Why You Should Read Oshi no Ko
Oshi no Ko is a manga by Aka Akasaka, who is also the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. If you love Akasaka's sarcastic, satyric style, this should be enough reason to delve right in.
Unfamiliar with Kaguya? Eager to know more? Ideally, you should go into Oshi no Ko knowing as little as possible about its plot, but here's a spoiler-free, very short overview.
Oshi no Ko starts off by following Goro, a gynecologist whose life changes forever when Ai Hoshino, a 16-year-old idol, arrives at his clinic, pregnant and determined to keep her twin babies.
Goro has been a fan of Ai's since a young patient introduced him to her work before passing away.
Just as he's about to help deliver Ai's children, Goro gets murdered and reincarnated as Ai's son, Aqua, while his former patient who died is also reincarnated as Ai's daughter, Ruby.
But this is not your typical isekai anime in any way. In fact, Oshi no Ko gets dark really fast.
It's impossible to explain without spoiling it, but let's say that the manga offers a critical look at how cruel the entertainment industry is, especially to women and girls.

Here's Oshi no Ko's Manga Release Schedule
The Oshi no Ko manga is typically released on a weekly basis. A new chapter comes out in Japan on most Saturdays, but there are also occasional breaks.
How Many Chapters and Volumes Does Oshi no Ko Have?
As of writing, Oshi no Ko counts 119 chapters. Of these, the first 100 have been collected into 11 volumes.
This means that there's a decent amount of content to keep you busy for a few days.
At the same time, Oshi no Ko is still short enough to be manageable and not too intimidating for newcomers.
Is Oshi no Ko on Hiatus in 2023?
Hiatuses are often a worry for ongoing manga series, as potential readers don't want to commit to something that will remain unfinished for years. Thankfully, no big hiatus has been announced for Oshi no Ko.
Oshi no Ko does occasionally take breaks, as is the case with most manga, but it's on a mostly regular schedule.
