It may have just started as a joke, but now, Oshi no Ko’s Kana Arima is officially the face of a real-life baking soda brand in Japan.

Recently, the Oshi no Ko official Twitter account revealed a special collaboration with Japanese company Kaneyo soap for a special baking soda package that features the anime’s fan-favorite former child actress.

This might seem like an unexpected collab for an anime, but it is a fitting one given Kana’s identity.

While Ai Hoshino was no doubt the reason the Oshi no Ko premiere trended online, in the next episodes, fans have fallen in love with Kana Arima.

Kana may have played a small role in the first episode, but she made a much bigger splash during Episode 3, as she instantly wanted to get close to Aqua.

Though Kana seems to have some feelings for Aqua Hoshino, that’s not the case with his sister, Ruby.

After all, Ruby has called Kana disparaging nicknames, including "loli-senpai" and “the genius child actress who licks baking soda.”

This baking soda thing is a joke about how Ruby mishears Kana’s identity as “the genius child actress who can cry on the spot.”

Because of this, Kana is jokingly called "baking soda-chan" by many Japanese fans.

Despite the joke not translating well into English, even international fans have begun calling her "baking soda-chan."

Given this, it’s only fitting that she is now the face of an actual baking soda brand.

For April Fools’, Oshi no Ko shared a funny advertisement of Kana promoting baking soda as a cleaning product.

The ad features Kana with cleaning tools, complete with an apron with Pieyon’s face on it.

Now, this joke has become real, as an actual baking soda collab was revealed.

As part of this collaboration, a baking soda bottle with a Kana Arima illustration will be released.

Fans who want to get their hands on this will have to wait a while though as this special edition Kaneyo soap baking soda will be released in early July in mass retail stores in Japan.

Meanwhile, the next Oshi no Ko episode will be released this week and streamed on HIDIVE in the US.
