Star Wars fans have always been curious about Rey's past ever since she was introduced in The Force Awakens. Since then, her history has always been kept as a mystery, with Kylo Ren revealing that her parents are just nobodies. Well that all changed in The Rise of Skywalker, and the fans aren't the only ones surprised about the big reveal.

This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Poe Dameron actor Oscar Isaac was asked about the most shocking thing he learned in Episode IX. "I guess the ending," he said. Without being specific about it, it's basically the revelation of Rey's history. "That was kept a secret, even from the scripts that we had," Isaac added. He basically revealed that it was not just a surprise to him, but to some of the cast as well, considering that it wasn't included in their scripts.

If you have already watched the movie, you already know by now that Rey is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine, which basically makes her parents the opposite of nobodies. The heroine's grandfather is literally the Sith Lord, and Rey is just as shocked as the fans and the cast.

While some people have already speculated Rey and Palpatine's connection to be revealed at some point in the sequel trilogy, some fans weren't exactly prepared to know how Rey is so powerful and is Force-sensitive in The Rise of Skywalker. Well, nothing could really prepare you once you've learned about your relationship with a Sith Lord.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now showing in theaters.
