Oscar Isaac Says Fans Will Be Surprised to Hear Poe Dameron's 'Ambiguous Past' in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to be the big finale to everything Skywalker-related, meaning that this could be the last time we see some of these characters on the big screen. It will be interesting to see if the movie has the chance to explore some of our heroes before they set sail forever. Apparently, best boy Poe Dameron will have his backstory fleshed out and it might shock us.

During an interview with ET Canada, Poe Dameron actor Oscar Isaac said that fans might be surprised to see what Poe's past will be like. The previous films only really showed that he's a daredevil pilot who's willing to do anything for peace and might have a pistol in his pants when Finn shows up. Hopefully, this doesn't feel too forced or edgy but we'll have to wait and see.

"Particularly with Poe, I think people will be surprised to see that he as a bit more of an ambiguous past. You know, he's not just kind of this squeaky clean flyboy."

Even with the divisive nature of The Last Jedi, most people tend to like Poe Dameron. He seems like a cool guy who will have your back and would probably have some fun drinking stories. Dameron was so popular that he ended up getting a Marvel comic series that lasted a number of issues.

I hope Poe gets more time to shine, though he should probably remain a supporting character. Rey and Kylo Ren are the most interesting characters after all but it would still be awesome to see him do something cool.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 20.
