Onew now has a full-packed schedule nearly two years after his military discharge.
Due to the mandatory military service in South Korea, Onew had to say goodbye to SHINee and his fans temporarily in December 2018. When he returned over a year later, he waited for months before resuming activities with the boy group and relaunching his solo career.
So far, he already appeared in a musical, Midnight Sun, and TV shows Sea of Hope and March of the Ants Chapter 5.
In his music career, meanwhile, Onew dropped his second EP, DICE, and the new album has since surpassed the records his debut album, VOICE, made.

Onew Shares Differences Between VOICE, DICE
In a new interview with Marie Claire following a photoshoot with the magazine, Onew opened up about his debut and latest solo albums.
Per the K-pop star, he prepared DICE while hoping people would feel the albums’ differences. Previously, his fans usually think that he would drop a lyrical ballad or a slow song. But this time, he tried connecting himself and SHINee and finding the middle to inspire his new album.

“SHINee is a team with definitive performances and character. How should I say this? If SHINee is a totally bright color, I tried to find a bit of a pastel color. Before this, I think my color was a bit hazy. I think this album is the moment I leave my first footstep to finding my own color. Since this is my first time promoting a solo album, I wanted to expand my spectrum,” he went on.
As he remains inspired by his boy group, he was also asked whether he now views his fans differently after years of performing in front of them.
Onew particularly noted that the emotions he feels changed a little while the other fundamental aspects remained the same. He explained how his capacity to relate to others’ emotions.
Onew Says DICE Is Only the Beginning of 2nd Phase of His Career
Elsewhere in the interview, Onew offered a clearer description of DICE, saying that it is only the start of the second phase of his career and marked the 50 percent of everything he wants to achieve.
Since he has been a K-pop idol for 14 years already, Onew assured he would not always have to try and show something new. Instead, his new album would be the key in order for him to let go of that pressure for new things.
From this day forward, Onew pledges to do everything he wants to do and enjoy each moment with his fans.
