Back in June 2022, Deadline reported that Fast & Furious director will direct Sony's live-action adaptation of One Punch Man, based on the popular Japanese shonen manga franchise of the same title. It features the story of a superhero Saitama, who became so strong that he could defeat any opponent with a single punch. When he becomes bored and unchallenged, Saitama seeks out a worthy enemy to take down.
Venom screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg are set to reunite with Sony to pen the script. Avi Arad, who also worked on Venom as well as Spider-Man movies, will produce.
One Punch Man was created by artist ONE as a webcomic in 2009, and it became a manga in 2012 with illustrations by Yusuke Murata. The series was adapted into a hit anime shortly after, becoming more popular in America after its Netflix debut.

One Punch Man Live-Action Movie Release Date
Following Justin Lin's departure from Fast X, the tenth movie in the Fast & Furious franchise, it didn't take long for him to rev up another franchise. Since the project was just officially announced in June 2022, it's unlikely that the movie will come out within the next few months, so at this point, it's still too early for the film to receive an official release date, and it'll likely be released after Season 3 of the anime series comes out, but we will update you with the latest release date information once Sony announces it.
One Punch Man Live-Action Movie Plot
The movie will likely be closely based on ONE's manga series of the same title. One Punch Man is centered on Saitama, who can defeat any opponent with just one punch. The film will likely adapt the story of the first season of the anime series, in which Saitama and Geno join the Hero Association. Expect a lot of action-packed fight scenes against big monsters and of course, humor.
