With Gear 5 finally set to debut in the anime soon, Bandai Namco revealed that Luffy’s Gear 5 will also arrive in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 as part of the next DLC pack.
Specifically, Bandai Namco shared a new trailer for Pirate Warriors 4’s Character Pass 2 which will add nine new playable characters that will be released in batches of three. Plus, a special skin for Trafalgar Law will also be included.
Aside from being met with excitement given the hype for Gear 5, fans were happy to see Pirate Warriors 4 continue to get new content despite being over three years old.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Is Getting Luffy’s Gear 5 After Anime Debut
One Piece fans were driven into a frenzy last year when Luffy went into his Gear 5 form during the Wano Country Arc. Aside from being incredibly powerful, Gear 5 is also Luffy’s most unique-looking form yet.
Because of this, fans have long been anticipating its official debut in the anime. And while it has taken over a year, Luffy’s Gear 5 will finally debut in the anime this August, with a teaser being released just recently.
It turns out that the anime debut won’t be the end of the Gear 5 festivities as Luffy’s new form will also appear in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4.
Specifically, the first new character in Character Pass 2 is Onigashima Battle Luffy.
Although he initially appears in his Onigashima Raid outfit, this new version of Luffy in the game can transform to Gear 5 in battle.
Along with this, it was revealed that Trafalgar Law will get an Onigashima Battle costume, though he won’t gain new powers while using it.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Character Pass 2 Will Feature Nine New Characters
Though the rest of the characters weren’t revealed yet, the teaser video did pretty much confirm two more characters.
While it’s not known who will join Luffy in the first batch of Character Pass 2, the teaser shows that Uta will be the main new addition to the DLC’s second batch.
Finally, Gol D. Roger himself will be the highlight of the third batch of the DLC.
Though it might not be clear to some, the black-and-red haki effects all but confirm that the King of the Pirates himself will be playable in the game.
Character Pass 2 will be released in September 2023, but there’s no word yet on a specific release date for it.
