We already met the Straw Hats Pirates, now it's time to meet the other awesome characters in Netflix's live-action One Piece series! The streaming giant has just announced new cast members who will be joining the highly anticipated show as Koby, Alvida, Arlong, Buggy, Garp, and Helmeppo!
The new One Piece cast members were revealed by the official Netflix Geeked Twitter account. The post confirms that The Evil Dead: Rise actor Morgan Davies will play Koby while Ilia Isorelýs Paulino from The Sex Lives of College Girls has been cast as Alvida. Ozark star McKinley Belcher III will portray Arlong and Brand New Cherry Flavor's Jeff Ward is Buggy. Vincent Regan from 300 is set to play Garth and Action Point actor Aidan Scott rounds out the new cast members as Helmeppo.
This is great news considering that the live-action series is expected to start out with the Romance Dawn arc where Koby is still Luffy's ally. It also confirms that we'll get to see the Alvida Pirates going up against the Straw Hats in the show.
One Piece will also star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. The Straw Hats were previously announced in November and the actors even showed off the awesome T-shirt that was personally designed for the cast by creator Eichiiro Oda.
One Piece follows Luffy on his journey to become the King of Pirates. With the help of the Straw Hats crew, Luffy searches for the fabled treasure called One Piece that will help him achieve his goal.
The live-action One Piece series is currently in production but the series has not yet been given an official release date on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
