As the series heads into post-production, One Piece live-action’s Luffy shared a touching message to his fellow cast, crew, and fans who eagerly await its release.
Iñaki Godoy plays Luffy in Netflix’s upcoming One Piece live-action adaptation, and his role is arguably the biggest and comes with the most pressure.
After all, while the series is about the adventure and friendship of the Straw Hat crew, it is Luffy that holds them all together as their captain.
In the series, Godoy is joined in the cast by Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Peter Gadiot as Shanks.
The One Piece live-action series is produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. It was announced in 2020, and filming began earlier this year in South Africa.
Though production has wrapped up, we have yet to see a trailer or even official images from the show.
As for One Piece itself, it began as an ongoing manga series by Eiichiro Oda that serializes in Weekly Shonen Jump.
Since it began back in 1997, the series has become one of the biggest media franchises of all time, complete with a long-running anime adaptation, films, and more.
Regarding the end of production, Godoy shared on Instagram how thankful he is for his family for supporting his dreams, as well as everyone involved in the show’s production, including fellow cast members and crew.
Godoy also gave special thanks to series creator Oda for creating the series’ “beautiful world”.
To end, Godoy thanked Luffy for being a constant source of joy and inspiration for him, as well as for reminding him of “what it means to be human”.
Godoy’s message to Luffy is a touching one and should come as no surprise for One Piece fans. After all, Luffy is an inspiration to millions of fans all over the world for his determination and dedication to his friends.

There is no word yet on when the One Piece live-action series will be released, but it is rumored that the show will premiere sometime in 2023.
Given Netflix’s promotion strategy, expect to see a preview for the show a few months before its premiere.
