Talk about raising the bar high, One Piece manga just broke its own Guinness World Record having the "most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author" and Eiichiro Oda marks another feat for his creation.
One Piece continues to prove why it is a top-tier manga series and remains as one of the most popular shonen demographic for decades. The numbers don't lie and having 500 million copies sold worldwide is not an easy deal but the manga series managed to break through their record.
In December 2014 and awarded the following year, One Piece manga set a Guinness World Record for having the "most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author" as it reached 320,866,000 copies sold worldwide. Now, they just broke their own record reaching 500 million copies out!
In light of this achievement, the official Twitter page of One Piece manga proudly delivered the news sharing their amazing feat of selling 500 million copies worldwide which renewed and broke their previous record in 2015. They even shared that Eiichiro Oda had been given a new certificate.
As proud as they are with the news, the Weekly Shōnen Jump Editor-in-Cheif, Hiroyuki Nakano, also got his head high in a photo shared by the same account as he holds the official certificate given by the Guinness World Records committee.
