We're finally getting some exciting updates on the One Piece live-action adaptation and the upcoming show just got an unexpected crossover with Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender series at TUDUM 2023.
One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender Live-Action Cast Interact At Netflix Event
Netflix recently held TUDUM 2023, a global fan event attended by several stars of the streamer's projects. During the red carpet in Brazil, the cast of One Piece was brought in to pose for pictures for the press.
Interestingly, their appearance coincided with the Avatar: The Last Airbender cast's press time. This led to the Straw Hats Pirates meeting Airbenders and Firebenders in one of the most epic crossover photo-ops ever.
It's great to see the cast members of two of the most highly anticipated live-action adaptations on Netflix together in a major event. This is the first time that the main cast for One Piece and Avatar: The Last Airbender have made a public appearance and it's awesome to see their interaction.
TUDUM 2023 also debuted the first teaser for the One Piece live-action series which offered a glimpse of the Straw Hats Pirates in action. It featured the first meeting between Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro as well as a brief shot of Red-Haired Shanks' interaction with the Lord of the Coast.
Although we didn't get a lot of footage in the teaser, there is little doubt that everything has been approved by the creator himself. It was previously confirmed by mangaka Eiichiro Oda that the series will only move forward once he is fully satisfied.
One Piece will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Vinsmoke Sanji. The main cast was present at TUDUM 2023: A Global Fan Event in Brazil.
The event would be the first public appearance for the main cast since they were announced to join the live-action series.
One Piece will premiere on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
