Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus, One Piece, has been running for more than two decades now. It is also one of the longest-running adventure anime, having made its debut in 1999. At this point, fans have their own theories and analyses about how One Piece will end.

Understandably, Eiichiro Oda is not only a brilliant storyteller; he is also a master of foreshadowing.

And because of this foreshadowing, not to mention the Easter eggs, fans came up with some of the most rational and logical endings for One Piece that would make the story come full circle.

How Will One Piece End?

Imagine waking up one day to read the last chapter of the One Piece manga, and you find that Luffy has become the Pirate King after finding the One Piece treasure on Laughtale Island—an island only Gol D. Roger and Joy Boy have reached.

It will surely be an emotional chapter, knowing how far Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates have come.

With 11 sagas spread across more than 20 story arcs, the ending of One Piece will truly shock the world, no matter what the ending is.

That said, here are some of the theories about the ending of One Piece:

The Destruction of the Red Line

The Red Line is the large wall that goes from the surface to as deep as the ocean floor and that divides the Blue Sea into four seas: East, South, West, and North Blue.

The moment the Red Line gets destroyed, Sanji will be able to find All Blue, Brook will reunite with Laboon, Nami will be able to map the entire world, Franky will be able to be a shipwright that has sailed around the world, and so on!

In addition, Mary Geoise will also be destroyed, allowing Fish-Man Island to return to the surface. However, there are still a lot of challenges with regard to this theory.

The Great War

The Great War is a full-scale war larger and double times bigger than that in the Marineford arc, which has also been confirmed by Eiichiro Oda himself in SBS Volume 97.

Some say that the final war will pit the grand fleet of the Straw Hat Pirates against Blackbeard’s grand fleet.

Some also believe that the Straw Hat Pirates will fight against the World Government under the control of Im and the Five Elders.

The True One Piece Treasure

This theory states that Luffy and the Straw Hats will reach Laughtale Island, where they will find the One Piece treasure. But what does it look like? Accordingly, the One Piece treasure is the devil fruit tree!

This is the reason why Roger laughed so hard upon seeing the devil fruit tree that everyone came to know as the One Piece. But is this theory plausible? What do you think?

Character Deaths

Of course, character deaths will always be possible. Some fans believe that Luffy will exhaust his gear, forcing the possibility of him dying by the end of the war.

This doesn’t mean the other characters will be safe, so this theory expects that Luffy will not be the only casualty!

On the contrary, Eiichiro Oda is not a fan of dying characters, so this theory has a slim chance of happening.

Instead, Eiichiro Oda would rather draw a celebration or a feast at the end of the series, as shown in every ending of the story arcs in One Piece, where the characters dine and eat their hearts out.

The Straw Hats Will Part Ways

All good things come to an end, and the Straw Hat Pirates are not an exception. After Luffy becomes the Pirate King, the Straw Hat Pirates will part ways to chase their own ambitions.

There are still a lot of theories online regarding the ending of One Piece, which you can simply find in forums and discussions.

We’re barely scratching the surface, and there’s still a lot more to consider when making an analysis of the ending of One Piece!

When Will One Piece End?

As of writing, the One Piece manga is already in its Final Saga, which begins with the Egghead Island arc.

This means the mysteries will gradually be revealed, the issues will be resolved, and every piece of the puzzle will finally fall into place.

However, this doesn’t mean that One Piece will end this year. In fact, Eiichiro Oda is not keen on rushing the ending of his life’s work, which indicates that the One Piece manga will still be around for years to come.

We don’t want a rushed ending, and it’s only right for Eiichiro Oda to take his time concluding Luffy’s journey.

What Will Happen in the Future of One Piece?

The ending of One Piece is only the beginning of more things to come! Chances are, One Piece fans will receive spinoffs, movies, and OVAs, as usual, after an anime series ends, similar to Dragon Ball and Naruto.

Given how successful One Piece is, not to mention its solid fanbase, fans will have so much to look forward to in the future, even after Luffy becomes the Pirate King.

The One Piece manga is still ahead of the anime, which means the anime will still be around after the manga ends.
