Here’s What Happened Before One Piece Chapter 1081
The title of One Piece Chapter 1080 is The Hero of Legend, and it features a reader request cover of Kawamatsu and Hiyori enjoying origami by Aoi Akamine.
The chapter begins at Pirate Island, Fullalead, New World, where several pirates report that Koby managed to escape prison.
They were thrilled by this news, knowing that Koby has a five-star bounty on his head, amounting to roughly 500 million berries.
All of a sudden, the humongous skull rock starts talking, mentioning how something was tickling around his left pec.
It was the slaves, and they were gunning for a breakout on their hands.
Koby quickly understood the situation, and he urged everyone to hurry.
He could have escaped on his own, but Koby decided to act as a decoy so the rest of the slaves could get to safety.
Shiryu of the Rain (the Clear, Clear Fruit Invisible Man), who was with Pizarro, told him that he could have grabbed Koby and the other slaves himself given that he could see, feel, and hear everything that was happening on the island.
Pizarro retorted that he would rather not have Blackbeard up in his ears about it later, since he’ll only bust up a joint.
Vasco Shot (Glug Glug Fruit Booze Man) joined the conversation, asking if he could take Pizarro’s place instead.
Vasco Shot wants to burn down the town to prevent the slaves from escaping, but Pizarro strongly argues that Blackbeard will be furious once the fire gets out of control.
Not to mention, they’ve also just finished repairing the Rocky Port.
Regardless, Vasco Shot responds that it is better for him to act than to leave it to the snoozing San Juan Wolf, The Great Battleship. (Huge-Huge Fruit Gigantification Man).
As Koby tries to shake the pirates attempting to apprehend him, he recalls Blackbeard telling him that he would make Pirate Island into his own kingdom, where everyone would accept him as king and it would be a member of the World Government.
Koby flatly refused Blackbeard's proposal, reiterating that the government and marines would not tolerate his terrorist acts.
He also stated that he was a SWORD member, which perplexed Blackbeard.
Kuzan, who was with Blackbeard at the time, explained that the SWORD are like sailors who have already submitted their resignations.
This means that they can choose to fight the four emperors if they want, without needing permission from above.
Moreover, they can also ignore any and all orders they choose.
In exchange, the Navy assumes no responsibility for their actions and can cut them loose at any given moment.
Blackbeard laughed at Kuzan’s explanation and decided to carry on with his plan, knowing that the navy would not be able to abandon Koby, who was known as a hero far and wide.
He still wants to use Koby as a bargaining chip in order to accomplish his plans.
Koby continues running away from the pirates and remembers how Perona made a deal with him in prison to help free Moria from his own prison cell.
Koby had to team up with a pirate since he was out of better options.
That’s when Koby heard that there were three dangerous marines in the port.
He thought that they were sent to rescue him, but Koby could not get his hopes up.
The attacking marines were incredibly strong, with one of them revealed to have a body made out of clay, and the other was Kujaku, the granddaughter of Tsuru the Great Advisor, who ate the Muchi Muchi no Mi.
This allows her to tame anything she whips, including buildings.
Koby was pursued into a corner and besieged by pirates.
They were about to fire their weapons at him when Hibari, much to Koby's amazement, shot them with flower rounds, preventing them from doing so.
Furthermore, Prince Grus appeared, telling the rest of his companions to bring down the ship smack in the middle of town now that Koby has been proven to be alright and the pirates have been trapped by the buildings whipped by Kujaku.
A Marine ship appears out of nowhere, dropping directly at the location of the pirates who were chasing Koby.
The pirates recognized the ship's arrow and understood it belonged to the legendary hero, Vice Admiral Garp, whom they assumed had retired.
When the pirates see Garp, they all start running back and forth, terrified.
It was too late for them, however, as Garp jumped from his ship, unleashing a destructive attack known as the Galaxy Impact that obliterated the area.
Garp was too outraged that the pirates had kidnapped Koby, whom he sees as the Marines' future, not to mention his own protégé.
