Here’s What Happened Before One Piece Chapter 1080
The title of One Piece Chapter 1079 is The Red-Haired Pirates: An Emperor's Crew, and it includes a cover request with Luffy inadvertently watering a lion instead of a sunflower.
The chapter begins a few hours earlier, before York revealed herself to be a traitor and before the seraphims attack Luffy and the others on Egghead Island.
York gathered the seraphims and informed them that the World Government is not just pursuing Dr. Vegapunk's main body but also wants to eliminate her.
Fortunately, York had prepared a backup plan in case the world government betrayed her.
As part of her plan, York wanted the seraphims to kill everyone on the island except for Dr. Vegapunk, the hostages underground, and herself.
She wanted to use the seraphims' powers to wipe out all the pests on the island.
To escape suspicion, York directed S-Snake to petrify her in front of everyone and release her when no one was looking.
She also told S-Snake that she needed to avoid destroying a section of the lab before dismissing her.
While the commotion unfolds, a Blackbeard ship can be seen approaching the shores of Egghead Island.
Meanwhile, in Elbaf, Padded-Toe-Gerotini (Captain of the Puddle Pirates), Grave-Tooth-Fugar (Head of the Social Club Pirates), and Panicky Pururu (Princess of Bourgeoisie Pirates), all loyal to Shanks, strive to provoke and intimidate Eustass Kid and his crew to send them away.
Killer warned Kid not to let down his guard because these pirates had some major names with them to be concerned about, to which Kid responded that he never pulls any punches, so Killer need not worry.
Shanks directed the pirate chiefs to inform Kid that he wanted all ships to retreat, much to the amazement of the pirates, who promised Shanks that they would not let the Kid pirates touch him.
Furthermore, Shanks reminded the other pirates that he was merely passing through, but he had lost count of time, so he wanted everyone's ships to move and clear a route for him.
The Kid Pirates, on the other hand, showed up, forcing Shanks to deal with them.
The other pirates begin insulting the Kid Pirates, claiming that Shanks is forced to deal with them because their fleet is infamously weak.
They also informed Shanks that the only foe he has to fear is Father Time, Granny Ori.
The pirates were seconded by Lucky Roux, but Shanks answered that they should not underestimate the Kid Pirates, especially their captain, who now has a 3 billion bounty on his head.
Shanks is especially concerned about Kid, who did not have enough time to recuperate while on Wano.
Yasopp said that Kid appeared lively enough and willing to fight, persuading Shanks that it was fine to get involved.
Shanks also inquired about Blackbeard, to which Hongo replied that the renowned pirate was last seen leaving Pirate Island.
Hongo was convinced that Blackbeard would appear in Wano, but at least they have some information about Eustass Kid.
Shanks studied Kid's information, noting that he is from South Blue and has done a lot of rampaging to get this far.
Eustass Kid, on the contrary, prepares his railgun to unleash Damned Punk on Shanks' fleet, despite the fact that they have nine ships and a slew of faces Killer recognizes from the reward posters.
Kid is confident that by deploying Damned Fleet, he would destroy Shanks' fleet in 10 seconds flat.
When Shanks saw this, he became concerned and ordered all of the ships to move aside immediately. He also requested that Dorry and Broggy take their places.
Shanks, it turns out, foresaw the terrible damage Kid's strike would do to his fleet, so he charged toward the Kid Pirates, catching Eustass Kid off guard.
All of a sudden, Shanks uses Divine Departure (Kamusari), taking Kid down along with Killer, who tried to help out.
As Kid lies unconscious on the floor, the other crew members beg Shanks not to kill Kid, offering their own Lode Poneglyphs as a bargaining tool.
Surprisingly, Shanks ignores them and jumps away from the ship as Dorry and Broggy prepare to launch a combined attack called Hakoku Sovereignty, which destroys the Victoria Punk.
Before the end of One Piece Chapter 1079, a narration of what transpired that day in Elbaf was given, claiming that the Kid Pirates, led by Eustass, a guy worth three billion, had been utterly destroyed.
