Once Upon A Deadpool’s Trailer Is Cute And Merciless

Christmas just came early for Deadpool fans because it looks like 20th Century Fox just dropped the trailer for its kid-friendly version of Deadpool 2, the highly anticipated Once Upon A Deadpool.

Posted on YouTube earlier this morning, the trailer shows off some of the new scenes that fans can get to see in the PG-13 version of Deadpool 2. Opening with a string of Deadpool-shaped snowflakes, the trailer starts off with Ryan Reynold's Merc with a Mouth introducing his new sidekick Fred. Duct taped to a children's bedroom with Deadpool seated at the side of the bed, Fred is forced to listen to the story of Once Upon A Deadpool – a "PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 filtered through the prison of childlike innocence."

It's a pretty fun trailer to see. Interspersed with a few familiar scenes from the original Deadpool 2, the promotional video for Once Upon A Deadpool shows off some new sequences for its child-friendly audience like the moment where Wade Wilson greets an elderly couple saying that he loved them in the Disney movie Up. Then there those scenes with Fred – one in particular where the Merc with a Mouth's sidekick takes a nice sharp jab at Fox's Marvel movies that are comparable to the "Beatles being produced by Nickelback."

"It's music, but it sucks," Fred tells Deadpool.

While most Marvel fans have seen Deadpool 2 already, the fact that Once Upon A Deadpool has new scenes like these is probably going to drive moviegoers back to cinemas to enjoy some family-friendly Merc with a Mouth violence during the holiday season.

Once Upon A Deadpool premieres December 12.
