Olivia Wilde’s Marvel Movie Receives New Update Despite Director's Controversy

In a world where one can’t get easily canceled with one single issue, fans of Olivia Wilde are hoping that would not be the case for the actor, especially when she is set to direct a movie in one of the major franchises, Marvel.

In August, Deadline reported that Wilde has secured a deal to helm a top-secret Marvel movie project that centers on a fictional female character; although no confirmation has been declared, it is believed that Spider-Woman will be the main character of the narrative.

In August, The Change-Up star slyly responded to reports that she is developing and directing the female-centric Sony Marvel movie, noting that she can’t confirm or deny but she admires the studios’ approach in directing.

She narrated, “That, I can’t say a word about. I can’t say anything about it. I have to bury myself in the couch now. I will say that I think the Marvel approach of allowing newer filmmakers to come into the fold and have access to those tools of the Marvel universe is incredibly exciting. I am a big fan of what they’re doing over there, but, yeah, I can’t confirm whether that is what that is. But that would be cool,”

Wilde's Don't Worry Darling has become a public conversation after salty clips between the cast circulated online. In September, Page Six reported that Florence Pugh and Wilde had a heated argument after The Black Widow actress got fed up with the director’s consistent absences with co-star Harry Styles, who she was dating at the time.

Wilde has been a subject of criticism for dating one of her actors. However, some believe that it’s an Hollywood obsession to hold women to certain standards that they cannot hold men for. There's also a fascination that other people draw when they create rumors that some women do not get along, highlighting potential feudsthat may not even exist.

MCU fans took to Twitter to share their insights about the news on Wilde’s directing the Marvel project.
