25 years after Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan first made us believe that a man can "fly", Warner Bros. Pictures is reviving the magic of Looney Tunes and basketball with the upcoming release of the second Space Jam movie. Titled Space Jam: A New Legacy, the project will still feature the timeless cartoon's most iconic faces as members of the elite Tune Squad, only this time around, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will be leading the charge.

We got our first taste of the film last year when the NBA megastar posted a short teaser of himself in his vibrant Tune Squad colors. Earlier this year, HBO Max would premiere a short teaser of the projects we can expect from the streaming service this year and it includes a brief shot of LeBron and Bugs teaming up together.

Now, WB has unveiled the first official images for the highly-anticipated project featuring its lead stars King James and Bugs Bunny, as well as Don Cheadle's character named AI G. No word yet when we'll get our first taste of the film's trailer but I'm assuming it's already on its way. Check out the images courtesy of Entertainment Weekly here.

Let's be real here, a lot of you may remember the first Space Jam as a pretty enjoyable and great flick overall, probably out of nostalgia but although it performed decently at the box office with 230 dollars under its belt, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing basketball film of all time, it still had fans and critics divided.

While it's still a little too early to say whether the 2021 sequel could end up becoming more successful, it's safe to assume that WB has already learned from the mistakes they've committed with the original. The current pandemic might also affect its box office performance but I guess we'll see.

One other thing, don't you think it would be nice if they can bring back MJ even just for a small cameo in the film? It has the word "legacy" on its title after all so I'm guessing the possibility of one of basketball's greatest players showing up for a surprise cameo isn't too farfetched to believe.

Space Jam: A New Legacy hits cinemas and HBO Max this July.
