While we still have to wait a bit longer for the One Piece live-action series to get a release date, Netflix and Eiichiro Oda revealed some interesting new details about the show. For instance, Netflix revealed that Oda has always wanted to see a One Piece live-action series.

Finally, Oda has gotten his wish as Netflix is gearing up for the release of the One Piece live-action show, that is, if there are no further delays.

But that is not guaranteed, as Oda revealed in his recent message.

Similar to what he did when the show was announced, Eiichiro Oda shared a personally made letter to fans via Netflix’s official channels.

There, he revealed how difficult the process is to align his vision to that of Netflix and Tomorrow Studios.

This echoes the previous comments of a Netflix executive about how Oda is passionate about his vision for the show.

Though Oda did allay fans’ fears, as he said that everyone involved in the production is finally in sync and that things are looking great for the show right now.

He also said in the letter that enormous resources were put into this show’s production, and he reiterated that the target date of release is 2023.

However, Oda did say that Netflix promised him that the show won’t launch until he was satisfied.

Finally, Oda revealed that the One Piece live-action series will have eight episodes. This contradicts the previous reports that the show will have 10 episodes.

To go along with the letter, Netflix shared an interesting article about Oda and One Piece that serves as a primer for those who have not yet watched the original anime or read the manga.

There, Netflix mentioned that Oda has always wanted One Piece to be adapted into a live-action series.

This is interesting as many anime fans and creators have issues with live-action adaptations.

Of course, that doesn’t guarantee the One Piece show’s quality. But many are feeling positive about it as Oda is deeply involved in the production.

This should count for a lot as other live-action adaptations do not involve their source material’s creators.

The One Piece live-action show will be released exclusively on Netflix sometime this year, provided there are no delays.
