One of the most anticipated TV shows this year is Obi-Wan Kenobi as it would mark the return of Ewan McGregor in the titular role years after he last played him in the prequel trilogy. The project has been in the works for some time now, initially as a feature film before it became a limited series. Fans have been patiently waiting to see the series and, after the recent release month leak, we finally have the official date on when it will air.

Disney+ and Lucasfilm have announced that Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on May 25 which coincides with the 45th anniversary of Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope. They also released the first poster for the series which shows the titular character walking in the sands of Tatooine. You can check it out below:

Prior to the announcement, a lot of fans anticipated that the release date will be on May 4 since it will coincide with Star Wars Day (or "May the 4th Be With You") and it's also on a Wednesday which is the premiere day for Disney+ original shows. May 25 is still a perfect date since it will be on the same day as the 45th anniversary of the original Star Wars and it will be a good way to celebrate the film that started it all.

The series will be set 10 years after the dramatic events of Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat - the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
