A lot of us thought it would never happen again but Lucasfilm is bringing back the faces of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for what is being dubbed as the "rematch of the century" in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The project was first announced in 2019 and since then, fans have been excited to see McGregor and Christensen back in action over a decade after Revenge of the Sith concluded the prequels. It would be safe to assume that Disney and Lucasfilm always had plans of bringing back Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader at some point especially with the Disney+ expansion kicking off three years ago but that wasn't always the case, it seems.

According to McGregor's side of the story, it was he who actually approached Disney for a job. In a conversation with Total Film (via GamesRadar), the Star Wars veteran hilariously shared how his comeback to the franchise came about.

Ewan said: "It started to look like I was knocking at Disney’s door, going, ‘Can I have a job?’. They got me in, and I sat down with [Kathleen Kennedy], and she said, ‘It’s all over social media all the time. We just wanted to know if you mean it.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I do think it would be an interesting prospect.'"
