Norman Reedus Officially Gets Top Billing in The Walking Dead's New Opening Credits

It was bound to happen sooner or later but it's officially the end of an era for The Walking Dead. Rick Grimes will no longer be appearing in the show, though he'll have a trilogy of movies to be in, and Maggie won't be a part of it either. Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon, is now the lead and you will now know that when the series' opening credits start scrolling.

That's right, you won't be seeing Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan's names in these credits anymore. Norman Reedus is now the main star, which many of us were expecting since he has always been the most popular character in the show, even with Rick and Maggie were in it. Some people might argue that Glenn should be up there in popularity, given how many reacted to his death but a lot of people always rotated towards Daryl.

What makes this interesting is the fact that Daryl Dixon is an AMC original character, one you won't be seeing in the comic books anytime soon. He was universally loved sometime after being introduced since many were worried that Daryl would be too much like his brother Merl. Comic book fans will find the lack of Rick and Maggie jarring since the two are still around in the comics but hey, that's what those movies are for.

Despite flip-flopping quality over most of its seasons, AMC's The Walking Dead continues to have a loyal fan base. Hopefully, they stay after these massive changes, assuming that the quality holds up.
