Noomi Rapace's Dr. Shaw Cameos In New Alien: Covenant Trailer

Noomi Rapace played the protagonist Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Ridley Scott's Prometheus back in 2012, but the sequel, Alien: Covenant, centers on a whole new crew without Shaw. A new extended TV spot, however, has an appearance from Shaw, and somehow tries to explain what happened to her character.

When the crew of the Covenant is seen exploring the ship from the first movie, a hologram plays for them, and it seems to be Dr. Shaw attempting to take control of the ship somehow. At the end of Prometheus, Shaw was the last survivor of her expedition, and the movie left her fate uncertain.

I'm really liking how Covenant looks as a movie. It's good that Ridley Scott decided to fully embrace the Alien franchise this time around instead of making it a clumsy spin-off like Prometheus. I also love how Katherine Waterston looks with her short hair — she looks like this generation's Ellen Ripley.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Alien: Covenant hits theaters May 19.
