Alien: Covenant CinemaCon Footage Shows Connection with Prometheus

CinemaCon has brought a lot of new sizzle reels of upcoming movies, though no clips have been released. What we do have are descriptions of these clips, which would hopefully tide over fans until the next event reveal or worse, the release date.

This time, The Wrap got a sneak peek of Alien: Covenant, which is supposed to be the latest story in Ridley Scott's saga. According to the report, there haven't been a lot of connections made definitive between the new movie and its predecessor Prometheus, even when the connection was very much apparent, thanks to the characters of Michael Fassbender (as the android David) and Noomi Rapace.

At the event, it was confirmed that the ship for the two characters were unable to reach the destination. David has somehow gotten a complete android body. And after the spacecraft arrives on the home of the Engineers, it somehow exploded and engulfed everything in a deadly black ooze.

"The gods have rejected mankind as cruel, weak, and full of greed. They are a dying species, grasping for resurrection. So they are leaving the earth forever. But their power is an illusion. They don't deserve to start again, and I'm not going to let them."

This dialogue came from the now-whole David. From here, we learn that the crew of the Covenant may have landed in this particular planet where an entire race seems to have been wiped out.

That's certainly a nice twist, and one that leaves an opening for fans to speculate on what will happen next.

Alien: Covenant will be out in theaters on May 19.
