But for fans of more niche or artsy anime, these two directors are beloved.

Masaaki Yuasa is a renowned anime director who is best known for directing shows such as The Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong the Animation, Devilman Crybaby, and more.

He is also one of the founders of Science SARU, the anime studio behind The Heike Story, Yurei Deco, Tatami Time Machine Blues, and others.

Meanwhile, Koji Morimoto is the co-founder of Studio 4°C, the anime studio behind Berserk: The Golden Age Arc and Summer Time Rendering.

Morimoto also worked on several anime classics, including Akira, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and City Hunter, among others.

Noiseman Sound Insect is a short film by Studio 4°C that’s directed by Morimoto. The character design for the film was made by Yuasa.

Also part of the staff is the legendary composer Yoko Kanno whom you may know for her work on the soundtracks of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

The short film’s premise is described as:

A short animation produced in 1997 by Studio 4°C, together with Bandai Visual.
It tells of the battle between the Noiseman monster that robs the people of music and controls the town, and the boys and girls who have been freed from the noise spells by the truth of music.

Despite having a stacked cast, this short film isn’t exactly well-known to the general anime community.

Nonetheless, it does have a solid following and is a cult hit among those who love underappreciated titles.

With the short film now being available for one month, it might attract new anime fans and entice them to check out other similar works.
