No Hard Feelings: Ben Affleck Welcomes New Batman Director

Star Ben Affleck officially welcomed new The Batman director Matt Reeves into the movie, and he did it with a Tweet and a pic. The note was short and sweet: "Welcome to the Batcave, @MattReevesLA."

Underneath it was a new photo of Affleck in Batman costume, but with his cowl open, tinkering with the Bat computer. The tweet got a lot of likes, including one from co-star Henry Cavill who plays Superman in Justice League.

The virtual welcome was a sign that things can finally move forward in the once embattled movie. On board was a director who could competently fill in the shoes of Affleck, Batman's ex-filmmaker. Anybody who doubted Reeves' cred can check out his critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films, Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.

The tweet also put a stop to doubts that Affleck was also giving up the cowl. It means that at least he will still be in two films: Justice League and this upcoming Batman movie. Certainty is something that the fans do need to hear. Prior to confirming his status as the film's director, Matt Reeves had to endure gossip that he had walked away from the studio negotiations, imperiling the movie.

Now that they've laid aside the gloom and doom, maybe the DCEU can finally focus on making a bad-ass movie that will relaunch Batman into a new post-Christopher-Nolan glory.

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Ben Affleck, is currently in development with no release date announced as of the moment. Fans can catch Ben Affleck's Batman in Justice League, directed by Zack Snyder, which will open in theaters on November 7, 2017.
