With the anime’s premiere just a bit over a week away, a new trailer for NieR: Automata Ver1.1a was released, revealing the new opening song by popular Japanese singer Aimer, along with more new footage.
New Aimer Opening Song for Nier Automata Anime
Most anime fans are likely familiar with Aimer as she is a popular singer who has performed various songs for hit anime shows and movies.
Aimer gained renown among anime fans a couple of years ago when she performed the songs Brave Shine and Last Stardust for Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works.
Since then, Aimer has performed other songs for the franchise, including the original songs for the Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel movie trilogy.
She also performed the song Zankyou Sanka which serves as the opening of Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc.
But aside from anime, Aimer has also released numerous songs and a couple of albums over the years.
Even before revealing her new song for the Nier Automata anime, Aimer already made waves a few weeks ago for singing the song Deep Down, which is the ninth ending song of Chainsaw Man. This song also serves as her latest single.
Aimer will grace anime fans with her distinct vocals once again as she will perform the opening song for Aniplex and A-1 Pictures’ Nier Automata anime adaptation.
NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Opening Song, Release Date
Aimer’s opening song for the Nier Automata anime is entitled escalate, and a preview of it was played in the new trailer.
Along with Aimer’s song, the trailer also revealed another song entitled Antimony by amazarashi, a Japanese rock band.
The new trailer and official Nier Automata Twitter account have confirmed that Antimony will be the ending theme song for the anime.

Songs aside, the trailer also shows off more anime action, with scenes that fans of the Nier Automata game will definitely be familiar with.
While it’s unclear if this anime is a 1:1 adaptation of Yoko Taro and Square Enix’s 2017 game, what we can say for sure is that it will follow most of the game’s story. It will also feature the original game’s voice cast.
NieR:Automata Ver1.1a Episode 1 will premiere on January 7, 2023. It is confirmed to release on Crunchyroll as part of the platform’s Winter 2023 lineup.
