Newly Discovered Star Wars Easter Egg Will Make You Feel Sad for R2-D2

One of the fun things about Star Wars is finding patterns that would make sense for characters across 9 films. Just in, someone has found this odd quirk about R2-D2 in the Original Trilogy that could hint as his time working with Anakin Skywalker.

Luke tells R2 stay in the ship in different occasions, he doesn't do it. The las person to said that to R2 was Anakin and he never come back. I'm not crying you are

As you can see, whenever Luke asks R2 to stay on the ship, R2 refuses and always forces himself to tag along. In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin tells R2 to stay with the ship, and R2 follows the instruction, but that was the last time he saw Anakin.

Of course, this could just be a neat little coincidence when it comes to the films, but it wouldn't be Star Wars if fans didn't come up with some kind of character backstory to justify every little thing they find onscreen. If you ask me, it can be a neat little bit of headcanon for fans of R2.

For now, we don't know what R2 is going to be doing in the franchise moving forward. While I would like a continuation of the story of Rey, Finn, and the rest, it's likely we'll have to wait a few more years before Lucasfilm (or any of the actors) would like to revisit that era. I guess R2 could make an appearance in another prequel, but I'd prefer his story to move forward, seeing as he barely did anything in the Sequel Trilogy.

The next big Star Wars property is the second season of The Mandalorian, and it's set to hit Disney+ this October.
