New Venom Trailer Reveals First Look at Riot

Sony Pictures

Today, Sony Pictures has released the new trailer for its upcoming Marvel film Venom, starring Tom Hardy as the anti-hero. The trailer also gave fans their first look at Venom's antagonist Riot, a symbiote bonded to Dr. Carlton Drake (played by Riz Ahmed).

There's footage in the trailer that shows Drake standing in front of a room full of employees, who presumably works for his Life Foundation. As the symbiote appears, the grey beat forms huge ax-like arms and hits the employees.

Riot is most likely not just the antagonist in Venom. It's rumored that Carnage is also set to appear. It looks like the film will have a lot of chaotic symbiote battle. The first Marvel Comics story Riot first appeared in is the series Venom: Lethal Protector, the main inspiration for the Venom film. Riot was one of the five symbiotes created by the Life Foundation. However, in the comics, Riot did not bond to Drake but to one of the top security guards of The Life Foundation.

Michelle Williams is playing Anne Weying, Eddie Brock's wife, who eventually becomes She-Venom. However, the trailer doesn't show her bonding with a symbiote.

Venom is set to release in theaters on October 5.
