New Star Wars Series About Mandalorians Might Begin Filming In October

Disney has already confirmed that there will be fewer Star Wars films that will be released in the next years. However, there will be no shortage of shows that will premiere on the Disney streaming service. For one, Jon Favreau's Star Wars series is expected to start production in October.

According to Making Star Wars, the live-action television series will begin filming next week. Although the locations were undisclosed, the outlet also shared photos of the new sets. The images seem to suggest that the show will be set on a planet similar to Tatooine.

The report also disclosed that Favreau's series might follow the story of Mandalorians after the fall of the Empire. The show is said to take place seven years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Naturally, some fans believe the series could feature a particular bounty hunter who ended up in a Sarlacc pit in Episode VI.

People have been hoping that Boba Fett will finally get his own standalone film. After all, this was the original plan for Josh Trank's Star Wars movie before he departed the project. It is highly unlikely that Favreau's show will be about just one Mandalorian. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to more updates on the series in the future.

Favreau will write and direct the upcoming series. He has previously worked on the first two Iron Man films as well as the live-action version of The Jungle Book. He is also signed to helm the live-action adaption of The Lion King, which is scheduled for release on July 19, 2019.

The official title for the new Star Wars series has not yet been announced. In addition to that, it has not been given a premiere date. However, the show is expected to air on the Disney streaming service by late next year.
