New Star Wars Novel Will Deal with Poe Dameron’s Criminal Past

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker closed the Sequel Trilogy, we're still getting more stories that take place in that era. Just in, we're actually getting a young adult book that focuses on Poe Dameron's criminal past.

According to Polygon, the book is called Poe Dameron: Free Fall, and will focus on Poe's days before he was a pilot, being a hot-headed teen on Kijimi. Here's the official description:

It's been a few years since Poe's mother, who was a pilot for the Rebellion, passed away, and Poe and his father have had more and more trouble connecting. Not sure what he wants to do with his life, teenage Poe runs away from home to find adventure, and to figure out what kind of man he is meant to be.

The book is written by Alex Segura, and he had this to say about what to expect from Free Fall, "This story not only answers questions from The Rise of Skywalker but also serves as the Poe Dameron origin a lot of people have been clamoring for."

Besides Poe, the book is also said to feature TROS characters like Zorii Bliss and Babu Frik. Though we know that Poe and Zorii had a history, I'm kind of hoping that this novel would delve into the idea that Poe was bisexual or maybe even gay. Oscar Isaac was adamant that he wanted to make Poe a couple with Finn, but Disney wouldn't allow it for the movie. Maybe we can get something with the books instead?

For now, Star Wars: Poe Dameron – Free Fall is set to come out on Aug. 4.
