New Star Trek: Picard Image Gives Us a Radically Different Hugh

Star Trek: Picard has a lot of people excited, giving us a continuation of The Next Generation while also giving us a new direction for these characters. This is going to be set many years after the iconic series so to see what these characters have been up to since then is going to make a lot of fans happy. As we wait for one month, which must feel like a year to some Trek fans-sorry, Trekkies, TV Line has decided to give us our first look at cyborg Hugh.

Except he doesn't appear to be too robotic these days.

As the picture below shows, it looks like Picard is doing some major changes to the characters since Hugh is now more human than he was the last time we saw him. While there is obviously some robotic parts still in him, I mean, look at that eye, it's clear that this is going to be a world that Picard won't be too familiar with.

Hugh and Seven of Nine will seemingly play a major role in Star Trek: Picard, leading a faction of cyborgs who have been freed. While not a completely original move in the part of these writers, think A.I. or Detroit: Become Human, we're sure that if the writing is good, no one will complain about another race metaphor, assuming this is the direction they go in.

Star Trek: Picard premieres in CBS All Access on January 23.
