New Spider-Man Manga Coming Soon

Spider-Man has to be Marvel's most iconic character, with most people knowing who he is, how he got his powers, and who was killed to motivate his power and responsibility mantra. We've seen numerous adaptations based on the character in North America and, surprisingly enough, Japan. There has been a live-action Japanese show that gave Spider-Man a robot and a manga that featured a completely different protagonist but it's clear that the land of the rising sun loves the wallcrawler.

It looks like the character is about to get a second chance in Japan, as manga artist Yusuke Osawa has announced that he will be working on a new Spider-Man manga called Spider-Man: I'm Not a Hero. Osawa said he would be doing this for the Marvel Manga Award, which is the second time this has happened. Prior to this, there was a Guardians of the Galaxy manga that was also made for that same award.

We get a brief look at how his Spider-Man is drawn and it looks fantastic. The character doesn't look too different from his regular iterations but the attention to detail here is great. Here's hoping that the rest of the manga looks this good.

Like the Guardians of the Galaxy manga, this is expected to be a limited series and won't be a lengthy ongoing like say Naruto or One Piece. Still, this should be a fun treat for Japanese fans and those that like Spider-Man in general. It's probably too late to introduce this character into Spider-Geddon but maybe a third sequel will fulfill this need.
