Controversial Spider-Man Debate Suggests Topher Grace is a Better Venom than Tom Hardy

I think we can all agree that Sam Raimi's third Spider-Man film was a colossal failure and a lot of fans are putting the blame on Topher Grace's "awful" portrayal of Eddie Brock aka Venom. However, there are fans who are actually convinced that Topher's version of the iconic Spider-Man villain wasn't all that bad. In fact, to some people, Grace was a better Venom than Tom Hardy who breathed new life into the character in 2018's solo Venom film.

A post from Twitter user "Daily Symbiote Spider-Man" is catching the attention of Spider-Man fans on the microblogging site. He claims that the That '70s Show actor's portrayal of the Spidey villain is overall better. He doesn't exactly offer an explanation as to why he thinks Topher is the superior version of the character but that was enough to tear the entire geek community in half.

In Topher's defense, I've always believed that he captured the bully persona down to a tee although he looked a bit lanky compared to the all beefed up Eddie Brock we've all gotten used to. The actor's Venom form doesn't look too bad either and I think he was just a victim of a bad script and a film that tried so desperately to cram three villains — Venom, Sandman, and New Goblin — along with three subplots when they could've just focused on one.

I may even draw flak for saying this but I'd love to see Topher Grace get another shot and redeem himself as Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe'sSpider-Man 3 top-billed by Tom Holland. I don't think it'll happen but if Jamie Foxx's Electro can get another go, why can't Topher Grace, right?

Spider-Man 3 is slated for release in December 2021.
