New Shazam! Image Reveals Powered-Up Doctor Sivana

Of all the upcoming DC movies come out, Shazam seems to be the one that has everyone's interest. The first trailer helped out with that, thanks to some fun dialogue exchanges and a number of jokes. Seeing Asher Angle transform into Zachary Levi also helped as the latter's performance in the trailer sold a lot of people on the actor playing the hero formerly known as Captain Marvel.

What we didn't get to see a lot of was the villain Doctor Sivana, played by Mark Strong. Thankfully, the newest issue of Empire magazine gave us a look at what the villain looks like when he's powered up and he sure looks menacing.

Fans of the character's older comics might find this odd since Sivana is known as a scrawny scientist who makes foes for Billy Batson's alter-ego but those that read Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's Shazam graphic novel will be happy to see this version of the villain. Granted, he didn't fight Shazam in that story but there's nothing wrong with changing the source material, especially since Black Adam has his own movie coming out.

In the New 52 version of Shazam, Sivana is someone trying to possess magic so that he can help his family. The story doesn't state what kind of danger they're in, though it does end with Sivana getting corrupted by the magic and deflating his physique, making him look like his original comic book version. He ends up meeting classic Shazam/Captain Marvel foe Mister Mind and it seems like we'll see them in Johns' upcoming Shazam ongoing series.

Shazam comes out on April 5, 2019.
