There are a few awesome scenes in Avengers: Infinity War that somehow defy explanation. For instance, it looked like Captain America and T'Challa were neck-in-neck as they ran towards the Outriders during the Battle of Wakanda. For fans, it was a race between the Super Soldier Serum and the Black Panther Herb. But could these things actually be one and the same?
A Reddit post offers up an interesting theory about Abraham Erskine's serum. The theory points out that Erskine's first attempt at the serum left Red Skull deformed so the scientist decided that it needed a special ingredient. Interestingly, Erskine was only able to achieve the right formula after he started working with Howard Stark.
Tony Stark's father is one of the few outsiders who actually got his hands on vibranium, which he turned into Captain America's shield. The theory suggests that Howard may have learned about the effects of the Heart-Shaped Herb and shared the information with Erskine, who then incorporated it into the serum.
This certainly would explain why the Super Soldier Serum is so difficult to replicate. The Herb only grows in Wakanda and is one of the country's top secrets. It would also confirm why Captain America and T'Challa have the same powers and run at roughly the same speed.
It's certainly an awesome theory. Unfortunately, there is no chance of creating more Super Soldiers since Erskine took his formula to the grave. In addition to that, all of the Herb have been destroyed in Black Panther, thanks to Erik Killmonger.
Although we're sure to see Captain America back in action in Avengers 4, it is still unclear if T'Challa will return following his unfortunate demise in Infinity War. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that Black Panther will be brought back to continue racing Cap in the future Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks.
Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
