There is little doubt that Thanos is the main villain in Avengers: Infinity War since he is responsible for the death of half the universe. However, a new theory suggests that the Mad Titan was being manipulated by a greater power that led to his bloodthirst.

A Reddit post points out that the real villain in Infinity War has been around since the first Avengers movie. The baddie has reportedly been influencing key characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Loki, Scarlet Witch, Tony Stark, and even Captain America himself. Who is this powerful figure? It's an interesting theory that could confirm why Thanos became the Mad Titan in the first place. However, it doesn't explain why Vision was never affected in a negative way although the Mind Stone is right on his forehead. Nevertheless, this is certainly one theory that demands more discussion.

Although we're still not sure if the Mind Stone is the real villain in Infinity War, there is little doubt that Thanos is one of the most complex baddies in the MCU. The Mad Titan's choices in the film were calculated yet certain scenes suggested he was a truly compassionate being. Needless to say, we're looking forward to seeing what will happen to Thanos in Avengers 4.

Josh Brolin is set to reprise his role as the Mad Titan in Avengers 4. He will be joined by Infinity War stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Karen Gillan, and Benedict Wong. Jeremy Renner has also confirmed that he will return as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in the sequel. There is also a possibility that the characters who were killed off in Infinity War will be back as well.

The still-untitled Avengers 4 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
