New Magic Arena Event Bans Persistent Petitioners & Offers Glass-Art Planeswalker Code

Wizards of the Coast

The second War of the Spark story event in Magic: The Gathering Arena is starting this weekend, giving fans more chances to win glass-art styles for Planeswalker cards. The first event's format was Momir; now, it's Pauper (only common cards are allowed) but this time, one card has been banned from the format and fans can also unlock a new glass-art style with a newly-released code.

In the recent Magic Arena's Pauper events, players prepared against two dominant decks in the format: "Persistent Petitioners" deck and "Rat Colony" deck. Both decks use multiple copies of cards that can have more than four copies in one deck thanks to their abilities.

While the new set War of the Spark provided tools to fight "Rat Colony" decks, "Persistent Petitioners" decks are still a problem as they could consistently deplete an opponent's deck easily, and building it requires no creativity as any player could just jam many copies of the same card in a deck. So now, thankfully, "Persistent Petitioners" has been banned in Pauper, effective on this weekend's new story event.

Fans can also unlock a new glass-art style for "Ob-Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted" by entering the code "INNERDEMON". Just in case you missed last week's code, it's "OVERTHEMOON". Another card style code will be released next week.
