New Look at Jean Grey in Dark Phoenix

Dark Phoenix was originally slated for a release last November, but due to extensive reshoots, the release of the film has been pushed back to 2020. Promos have been slowly trickling out for the movie though, and we have a new image of Sophie Turner's Jean Grey.

With the jet in the background, I'm guessing this scene takes place before or after the X-Men's mission into space. We know that it's exposure to cosmic rays that awakens the Phoenix Force inside Jean, so it's very likely that the film will start with the space mission.

Though I'm sure fans of the franchise want this film to be a hit, the backstory of production just seems to be against the film continuously. For one, the movie has already seen multiple delays, and though Simon Kinberg has had a history with the X-franchise, this will be his first film to actually have him in the director's chair.

The Disney/Fox acquisition doesn't help either as now fans are expecting the MCU to completely reboot the characters. As of now, everyone is just expecting this film to be the end of the X-Men story that Bryan Singer started back in 2000.

Personally I'm in the camp that wants Dark Phoenix to be the end as well, but being a fan since the very first film, I would like to see these characters get a proper sendoff next year.

Catch Dark Phoenix in theaters June 7, 2019.
