The "new' DC Universe's inaugural film Superman: Legacy isn't hitting theaters until 2025 but it's already generating a ton of buzz online. Last week, we learned that apart from penning the script, James Gunn will also serve as the project's director and the latest developments had fans convinced that casting announcements are on their way.

As it stands, Gunn has yet to reveal which actor will take over the iconic role from Henry Cavill who officially exited the DC film franchise late last year. In fact, the DC Studios co-CEO claims that they haven't hired a casting director yet despite what the most recent reports are claiming.

Unsurprisingly though, several actors have volunteered for the coveted part, including Dylan Sprayberry who played young Clark Kent in Man of Steel. Now, another potential candidate has entered the fray in actor Pierson Fodé who is best known for his work on Disney Channel's Jessie and the hit drama series The Bold and the Beautiful.

Instagram artist @clements.ink recently unveiled a stunning piece depicting the 31-year-old actor as the new Superman. Turns out, the artwork caught the attention of Fodé who then expressed his interest in playing the role. He said: "Count me in". Check it out here:

Assuming Superman: Legacy keeps its 2025 release date, cameras should begin rolling for the project early next year. Of course, this means DC Studios could finally be making the casting announcements before the year ends. Hopefully, Gunn will cast someone who not only looks the part but actually embodies what Superman stands for.

DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on July 11, 2025.
