It has been a while since the last anime project, but fans of the series now have something to look forward to as a new Code Geass light novel has been announced, and it is going to be released in early March.
While this light novel’s plot is not directly related to Lelouch Lamperouge’s story, it should still be worth a read for dedicated fans of the franchise, especially for those who are interested in the spinoffs.
Code Geass: A Well-Loved Story About Revenge and Revolution
Code Geass is one of the defining anime of the 2000s. Running for two seasons from 2006 to 2008, the original Code Geass anime was a massive hit and continues to be popular to this day.
Since then, Code Geass has become a massive media franchise, complete with various manga, game, and light novel spinoffs.
The most popular of these later projects is the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion film trilogy.
This set of films is similar to the Rebuild of Evangelion series in that it remakes the original anime, but with key differences.
After this trilogy, a movie entitled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection was released in 2019, and it is set one year after Rebellion’s events.
At this time, Re;surrection is the last anime project in the franchise, though the anime series, Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, is currently in the works.
The upcoming light novel isn’t tied to this set of movies though. Instead, it is based on a Code Geass mobile game spinoff.

Code Geass New Light Novel Announcement
Kadokawa recently revealed the Code Geass Arthur on the Misty Streets case file: beginning light novel via its official website. There, details about the story and release info were shared.
Specifically, the light novel is set in London in 1887 and follows Conan Watson and Arthur Holmes.
As their names imply, this story is inspired by the popular Sherlock Holmes stories.
This isn’t an entirely new story though, as it is based on one of the stories in the Code Geass: Genesic Re;CODE smartphone game that was released back in 2021.
While the game is available now in certain countries, support will end this April.
As for the light novel, it is set to release in Japan on March 1, 2023. Currently, there’s no word yet on whether this light novel will be released in English outside Japan.
