New Altered Image Imagines Chris Hemsworth As Old Man Thor

With Iron Man’s saddening death and Black Widow’s unfair demise, not to mention the retirement of Captain America, the original Avengers have been incomplete for a while now. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is one of the few who remain, given that he could take his time in the franchise. A newly edited image shared by the actor himself tries to see the future appearance of the God of Thunder if ever he grows old in character.

Hemsworth shared an image on Instagram of what Old Man Thor could look like if he ever decides to stick around, along with other photos of him outside his costume but old-looking nonetheless. The snap is gathered from his Disney+ documentary, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, a six-part series that showcases the journey and full potential of the human body.

If ever the MCU will witness Thor in his old age, he wouldn't be the first Avenger to pass as grandpa, because Avengers: Endgame saw Chris Evans’ Captain America as an elderly man because he chose to retire as Steve Rogers and live his life in the past with his beloved Peggy Carter. Despite not appearing so, Hemsworth’s Asgardian prince is already 1500 years old, and he could live longer unless he dies a natural death.

Aside from seeing Thor grow physically, one other way to see him in old age is through Marvel’s multiverse. Fans have seen it with the God of Mischief's variants in Loki; they could come in all sorts of forms, including race, gender, and age. If the God of Thunder gets to meet the versions of himself in other universes, he may be faced with a variant that is significantly older than him, similar to Classic Loki.

In November, Hemsworth announced that he was taking a break from acting given his health condition, an increased risk of Alzheimer's disease, which he discovered while shooting his National Geographic docuseries. According to the actor, discovering his illness at the time he was doing a series about time and aging became his "biggest fear."

Thor: Love and Thunder are currently available on Disney+.
