Star Wars: New Ahsoka Leak Debunks Thrawn Casting Rumors

Last year, there were rumors that Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels, was cast to reprise the role in live-action in Ahsoka. However, since then, we haven't heard any confirmation if the alleged reports were true. Now, a new leak has suggested that it might not actually be the case at all.

Recently, notable scooper MyTimeToShineHello revealed on Twitter that they've heard that the casting for Thrawn in live-action is already done although they didn't provide details regarding the identity of the actor. Later on, Cinelinx editor-in-chief Jordan Maison quote retweeted the post and said that he heard that Mikkelsen is NOT the one who was cast to play the iconic character.

We do have to take note that Lucasfilm hasn't confirmed any information and none of the major trades have yet to report regarding this manner. However, the people behind the scoops have been pretty much reliable when it comes to insider information so there is a reason to consider that it might be valid.

If the information is true, it is interesting to hear that Lucasfilm went in this direction and didn't have Mikkelsen reprise the role in live-action since he is also a working actor who has done roles in TV shows such as House of Cards and The Witcher. We can speculate that perhaps Mikkelsen wasn't available or interested or they just decided to have another actor play the role.

For now, all we can do is speculate regarding who Lucasfilm might have cast to play Thrawn. There have been a lot of suggestions from fans for years regarding who should play him including Mikkelsen. However, given that it's no longer the case, we can expect a different name once the information becomes confirmed which we might possibly hear during the upcoming Star Wars Celebration event.
