Netflix's Tokyo Ghost Film Adaptation Lands James Bond Director Cary Fukunaga


Netflix is certainly on a roll with its upcoming comic adaptations. The planned film based on the cyberpunk graphic novel Tokyo Ghost just landed James Bond director Cary Fukunaga.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Fukunaga will helm the adaptation of Rick Remender's dystopian comic series. The upcoming project is being produced by Legendary Entertainment who had previously worked on Godzilla vs Kong.

Tokyo Ghost was a 10-issue comic series from Image Comics. It is set in the year 2089 and follows constables Debbie Decay and Led Dent who work as peacekeepers in the Isles of Los Angeles. Amidst all the advanced technology, the two are sent to The Garden of Tokyo, which is the last tech-less country in the world.

Fukunaga is best known for his work on Beasts of No Nation and Jane Eyre. He also served as executive producer on the first season of HBO's True Detective. His most recent project was No Time To Die, which is set to be the last James Bond film that will star Daniel Craig.

For now, the Tokyo Ghost adaptation has not yet been given an official production start date or a release date. In addition to that, there are no actors attached to the project just yet. Nevertheless, the film is expected to air on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Fukunaga's latest project No Time To Die is currently scheduled for release on October 8. However, there are speculations that the film could be delayed yet again.
