Netflix's The Witcher Will Depict Geralt's First Meetings With Ciri and Yennefer

Netflix's The Witcher is coming out soon and fans are curious to see what this live-action adaptation of the popular video game series will be like. Hopes are high, thanks to Netflix's reputation and the amazing-looking costumes so let's hope that all of our expectations are met. Interestingly enough, the series is going to cover ground that neither the games nor the books have done.

Speaking with, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich was asked about the approach they would be taking with these characters. In a sweet twist, Yennefer and Ciri have yet to meet Geralt of Rivia in the start of this series, with Hissrich promising that they will be fully-developed characters before meeting our white-haired hero.

"You know, I think we can expect a little bit of everything honestly. The show is obviously based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, but what's really fun is that we actually get to expand upon the books, we get to read between the lines, we get to really dig into the character moments and let them breathe a little bit more in ways that, specifically with both Yennefer and Ciri that weren't necessarily present before they met Geralt. We dig in and we get to learn about them and create fully formed characters before they start intersecting with one another and changing."

This is potentially great since Ciri and Yennefer can get development that the games couldn't give them. Both women could also get episodes dedicated to them, though that's just a bit of speculation. Hopefully, the writers do them justice and give us excellent versions of these characters.

The Witcher will be coming out on Netflix this Fall.
