Netflix’s The Witcher: First Look at Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia

He may not be playing Superman anytime soon, but Henry Cavill has signed on to star in Netflix's adaptation of the hit Witcher series. Just in, we have our first look at Cavill in costume for the character of Geralt of Rivia.

Check him out:

Though I think Cavill is a great choice for the role, I honestly wanted to see him look a bit more rugged in the series. I also kind of wish that they put a better wig on him because he looks like something straight out of Twilight. If anything he looks like a cross between Legolas and a Targaryen from Game of Thrones.

Then again, those are just my gripes. I'm sure I'll change my mind once I actually see some shots from the show. For now, this is just a make-up test.

Netflix's The Witcher will be based on the cult series of books by author Andrzej Sapkowski and is set to run for eight episodes. Lauren S. Hissrich is attached as showrunner for the series, with actresses Freya Allan, Millie Brady, MyAnna uring, and Anya Chalotra set to star alongside Cavill.

Though it hasn't been confirmed, some people are also hoping that the show will follow the aesthetics of CD Projekt Red's hit game The Witcher III. Though the game had grown quite popular with fans, I can imagine that the show will still want to take its own liberties when it comes to their adaptation.

No release date has been set for Netflix's The Witcher series.
