Netflix's The Witcher Casts Harry Potter Star Anna Shaffer As Triss Merigold

Fans simply can't get enough of the first look at Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Interestingly, the Netflix show has also added new cast members including a former Harry Potter star who will play Triss Merigold.

According to TVLine, Hollyoaks actress Anna Shaffer has been cast as Triss, the sorceress who will help Geralt in the series. Shaffer's character may also end up being a possible love interest to the protagonist.

If Shaffer looks familiar, she actually appeared in three Harry Potter films. She is known for playing Romilda Vane, who tried to put a love spell on Harry in The Half-Blood Prince. However, she ended up hexing Ron Weasley instead. In addition to that, Shaffer portrayed Ruby Button in Hollyoaks.

The Witcher also added Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards) as Stregobor, Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks: The Return) as Cahir, Royce Pierreson (Wanderlust) as Istredd, Joey Batey (Knightfall) as Jaskier, Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo, and Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Hunter Street) as Dara.

The first teaser for The Witcher was released by Netflix. The brief video shows Cavill as Geralt. It's a great glimpse at what fans can expect next year. Nevertheless, some believe that Cavill's look still lacks Geralt's scars, which may be added later on in the series.

The show will also feature Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Millie Brady as Renfri, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, and Adam Levy as Mousesack.

The Witcher is expected to begin production by November. There are reports that the series will air on Netflix in mid-2019.
