Netflix's The Old Guard Teaser Reveals New Details About Charlize Theron's Andy

It will still be a few more weeks before the premiere of The Old Guard but people are already hoping to learn more about the upcoming Netflix comic book movie. Luckily, the new teaser for the adaptation reveals some interesting new details about Charlize Theron's mysterious Andy.

Theron herself shared the new teaser on her official Twitter account and it confirms that Andy is several centuries old. Check it out below.

The teaser reveals that Andy's real name is Andromache the Scythian and that she was born in the Western Asian Steppes in the 5th Millennium BCE. In addition to being a bounty hunter and soldier, she is also a revolutionary who was once worshipped as a god. Amazingly, Andy speaks all languages and her favorite weapon is a labrys or a double-bitted axe. When asked how old she is, a weary Andy simply says she is "too old."

Although Andy and her team are immortals, that hardly means that they have never been killed. Throughout the years, Andy herself has died several times. On the other hand, she's also pretty good at avoiding unnecessary death. Her first "death" is revealed to be in 4700 BCE. That's a pretty long time and we're hoping she can avoid getting killed again in the film.

The Old Guard is directed by Gina Prynce-Bythwoode and also stars KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The movie is an adaptation of Greg Rucka's comic book and will premiere on Netflix on July 10.
