After sharing a trailer last week, Netflix is continuing to hype up the upcoming Onmyoji anime by revealing the anime’s ending sequence and a key visual.

This new show is Netflix’s latest project that’s part of its produced anime lineup.

Just recently, Netflix has exclusively released a selection of unique titles, including Pluto, which premiered yesterday.

As with these aforementioned titles, Onmyoji is an adaptation. Specifically, this new anime is based on a historical fantasy short story series that began way back in the 80s.

Netflix initially announced the Onmyoji anime back in September 2022 at its Tudum virtual fan event. Since then, Netflix has stayed quiet about this new show. That was until recently, as new details were announced.

Last September, info about the show’s cast was revealed. Then last week, a proper trailer for the series was shared, which previewed its opening theme song.

Now, fans are treated to a new key visual that puts the spotlight on the show’s two main characters: Minamoto no Hiromasa and Abe no Seimei. The visual was shared on the Netflix Anime official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Onmyoji is a historical fantasy series set in the Heian Period, a time that’s considered one of Japan’s ancient golden ages.

This is a unique setting given that many Japanese period titles like Netflix’s own Ooku: The Inner Chambers are set during the Edo Period, which was between 1603 and 1868.

For comparison, the Heian Period was from 794 to 1185. At this time, Japan’s capital was Kyoto, and this is where Onmyoji is set.

The Onmyoji anime’s recent trailer showed off some new clips, and it also previewed the opening song by Ling Tosite Sigure, the popular band behind several Psycho-Pass theme songs.

Now, Netflix revealed a new promo video for the anime. Instead of another trailer though, this video showcases the anime’s ending sequence in a creditless version.

This video also previews the ending theme song, kioku, by the singer ao. Check it out here:

The Onmyoji anime will be released exclusively on Netflix worldwide on November 28, 2023. There’s no word yet on how many episodes this anime will have.

As with most Netflix anime releases, all episodes of this series will likely be available on Netflix on the 28th.
