Netflix Says It Has No Intention Of Adding Commercials

Despite the rumors of commercial inserations, Netflix subscribers have nothing to worry about, because the streaming giant promises that it absolutely has no intention of adding advertising to its programming anytime soon.

According to Variety, Netflix made an official statement about rumored commercials in its programming during the meeting for its 2nd quarter 2019 earnings. The statement is the first time that the company directly addressed these rumors, and it makes it clear that the streaming giant has plans of adding any sort of advertising to its service now or in the foreseeable future.

"We, like HBO, are advertising free. That remains a deep part of our brand proposition; when you read speculation that we are moving into selling advertising, be confident that this is false," the company declared in its statement, "We believe we will have a more valuable business in the long term by staying out of competing for ad revenue and instead entirely focusing on competing for viewer satisfaction."

This can come quite as a relief to subscribers. Rumors about the addition of advertising on Netflix pop up every now and then, and this time subscribers have been concerned that the company might need additional advertising with Disney taking away its content to prepare for the launch of its own streaming site, Disney+.

Right now subscriptions are currently in decline at Netflix because of the appearance of new streaming services like WB's DC Universe and the upcoming launch of Disney+.

However, Netflix is sticking to its guns, knowing that its subscribers expect premium ad-free service that's similar to what HBO offers. Hopefully, subscribers will return to Netflix so that the site will be able to continue functioning the same way it does.
