Netflix Reportedly Working on a Resident Evil Live-Action Series

It's funny how timely some news can be. Now that the Resident Evil 2 remake is available for everyone to enjoy, Deadline has reported that Netflix is planning to work on a series based on Capcom's survival horror series. This is potentially great news as the series has been subject to mediocre movies for too long, so a more serious live-action serial could be just what the zombie ordered.

Okay, it could still be bad since Constantin Films is working on the series. Granted, they might be able to make a better series now by hiring more talented people but let's not get our hopes up. Then again, the Resident Evil games don't really have a deep plot or anything like that, with some titles even playing up the camp, like Resident Evil 4.

No word yet on the show's setting or if there will be characters from the main games. If the current popularity of Resident Evil 2 is anything to go by, adding Leon Kennedy or Claire Redfield could be a great move for everyone involved. Then again, popular characters from the game have appeared in these movies and they still sucked.

As of this writing, there is no set release window for the series. We can assume that this Resident Evil show is still very early in production. In the meantime, fans can play the new Resident Evil 2 remake, which is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
